Podficcing

brennuvargurAbout a year ago a friend and I were talking about how "nobody makes podfic anymore!" This is not technically true, but sometimes it feels that way. A lot of new fandoms don't have any podfics at all, and it seems like only fandoms that get podfics these days are fandoms that have been around for longer and maybe have fans that are older and more used to podfics.
Anyway this brought us around to deciding we wanted to do a whole event centered on podfics. This never actually happened but we also said we'd try it out and record a podfic for each other, since neither of us had ever done it. She sent me a link to a fic she wanted me to read for her. Somehow we never found the time and the event thing also fell by the wayside.
Fast forward to a whole ass year later and here I sit with an almost 2 hour audio file burning a hole in my hard drive and I don't know what to do with it.
I barely knew what I was doing when I started this (I still don't) and it was definitely a learning experience, but there are so many guides and tutorials out there from all the amazing people who came before me, and that's the only reason this thing is even marginally listenable. I'll post an update when I finally finish editing it and actually post it.

Date: 2019-01-25 02:20 am (UTC)Very few people listen to it, and hardly anyone comments. The comments I've had in the past have been absolutely glowing, or I wouldn't even consider doing it again, but there just doesn't seem to be much interest unless you're recording, say, Harry/Draco stories.
Having said all that, it's still fun to do, and I will do it again just for that. :)
